FERRY CORSTEN DROPS NEW TRANCE TRACK WITH GAME OF THRONES ACTOR KRISTIAN NAIRN: LISTEN

The duo provide a fresh take on ‘Galaxia’

Ferry Corsten has collaborated with Kristian Nairn on a remake of Corsten’s track ‘Galaxia’.

The track, first released in 1996, came under Corsten’s Moonman alias, and is a production he was originally unsure “would span over the years”.

“There’s just something about those chords” Corsten told DJ Mag during an exclusive interview at Tomorrowland weekend one, “It seemed so simple to me, the original in 1996 was done as a B-side track. It continued to get picked up over the years and got remixed, then I remade it for another album. Every time I drop that track, even now, it just seems to put smiles on faces.”

The latest reimagination comes courtesy of Corsten and Nairn, AKA Games Of Thrones’ Hodor. Sharing how the two came to work together on ‘Galaxia’, Corsten shared that while listening to a guest mix from Nairn on Above & Beyond’s radio show he heard a bootleg of his track ‘Sunflakes’, and subsequently contacted Nairn.

“I looked up the bootleg, which I already had and didn’t even know, and played it on my radio show, Corsten’s Coundown” Corsten said, “(Kristian) messaged me the next day and said “Hey! I’m a massive fan of your old track ‘Galaxia’ – I’d love to give it the same sort of treatment!” so I sent him all the parts”.

The rework of ‘Galaxia’ is brimming with all of its original components, but Nairn breathes new life into the track with fresh synth elements and the addition of an undeniable, melodic groove. “Sunflakes is an uplifting trance track” Corsten notes, “but what he did to it was groovy – 125 or 126bpm, almost house. I wanted to know how ‘Galaxia’ would sound like that, with the same treatment.”
