AVICII ESTATE IN DISCUSSIONS TO RELEASE POSTHUMOUS ALBUM

Friend and collaborator Aloe Blacc said as much in a recent interview…

The release of posthumous Avicii album is allegedly being discussed by the late EDM star’s family and a record label, according to Aloe Blacc.

In a recent interview, the ‘Wake Me Up’ singer and friend of the DJ/producer said, “There are several songs left. I believe the record label is working with his parents and the estate to find a way to bring these unreleased songs to the public.”

“But for me there’s no rush,” he added “I would leave that with his parents.”

Blacc also spoke about the significance of Avicii’s tragic passing in April aged just 28, and how it has potentially been a wake up call for young people to remember the importance of looking out for one another. “Avicii’s death has been a call to a lot of young folks for people to take better care of themselves and surround themselves with people who are looking out for their best interests.”

Avicii – who was voted into No. 15 spot in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs poll this year – had been working with Nile Rodgers prior to his death in April and they had allegedly written an album’s worth of music together.

Earlier this week, ‘Avicii: True Stories’ director, Levan Tsikurishvili, teased a possible return of the documentary to streaming service Netflix.

DJ Mag’s digital editor Charlotte Lucy Cijffers has reflected on the young DJs enormous influence on the global EDM community and on how his openness surrounding his struggles with fame, touring and alcoholism gave a troubling, if necessary, insight into a side of dance music the world often does not see.
