EDC Las Vegas is officially not happening in 2020.
Originally set to take place from 15-17th May, the Insomniac event was postponed in April due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The festival was then rescheduled for October, with a virtual festival taking place in May instead of the real deal. It has now been announced that EDC Las Vegas will not take place at all in 2020, and will instead return in May 2021 for its 25th anniversary.
On Sunday 2nd August, Insomniac founder Pasquale Rotella announced that EDC Las Vegas 2021 would be held at Las Vegas Motor Speedway from 21 – 23rd May. Explaining his delay in making an official statement about the fate of the festival this year, Rotella wrote that he and the event’s organisers had spent “the last several months working to create a plan that would allow us to produce a safe event for you.”
He continued: “We wanted to implement a free two-step testing program, one test at home before traveling to Las Vegas & another test at the venue when you arrived, in addition to many other enhanced safety protocols. Unfortunately, we just learned that the medical advances necessary to pull this off will not be ready in time, which is why I’m making this announcement today.”
All tickets for EDC Las Vegas 2020 will be valid for next year’s festival. Ticketholders seeking refunds have been told to follow this link.
