Glastonbury’s Michael Eavis has said that a 2021 edition of the festival is “wishful thinking”.

Along with most events and festivals that were set to take place this year, legendary Somerset festival Glastonbury made the tough decision to cancel this year’s edition amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The festival, which was scheduled to take place in June, would have been Glastonbury’s 50th anniversary, and the likes of AJ Tracey, The Avalanches, Caribou, FKA Twigs, Danny Brown, Charli XCX, and Dizzee Rascal, as well as legendary acts such as Diana Ross, Pet Shop Boys, Herbie Hancock and Primal Scream, were slated for performances.

In a recent interview with ITV News West Country, Eavis told a reporter that he would be “moving heaven and earth” to try and make the festival happen, but “that doesn’t mean it will necessarily happen” and “that is just wishful thinking”.

Eavis also added that he is confident Glastonbury will survive the pandemic, and that he is certain a 2022 edition of the festival will take place.
