Rising star DJ/producer of 2021: “Ghost Rider.”

With their signature sound regarded by the likes of Armin Van Buuren as among the most well-defined in the scene, it’s no post-lockdown wonder Vini Vici — aka Aviram Saharai and Matan Kadosh — are more in-demand than ever. A blistering score made for sweat, it’s psytrance at the genre’s most powerful and commanding end and is now once again taking the duo across the globe, hence recent dates from west coast USA to the Cologne rave stronghold of Bootshaus — ranked by DJ Mag readers as one of the world’s finest clubs.

Don’t assume that means 2021 has been a simple case of getting back to business as usual, though. Last year’s great pause afforded an opportunity to focus on loved ones, but the pair also expanded their production setup, and the results can be heard in new output and performances, not least recent singles ‘Come Close’ and ‘Far From Home’. Meanwhile, their soon-to-be-unveiled Alteza show promises even bigger things for the future. The juggernaut continues.

How was your first gig back after lockdown?

“The feeling was incredible, there is a reason why we are doing what we do for a living, we live for this feeling. The connection with the crowd, the energy, it’s divine.”

How have the last 18 months changed how you view your work/life balance?

“We both built our families in the last years, so we had the chance to enjoy some family time and be more present for our kids.”

What further steps should the industry take to combat climate change?

“Reduce the amount of plastic at parties, even move to paper straws. This may sound like a small step but we should start somewhere.”

What’s the best bit of tech you’ve added to your studio or DJ setup this year?

“We love the gear from VoicAs, LedRover by them is an amazing saturation-overdrive.”

What’s the best album you’ve heard this year?

“Unfortunately, nothing really blew our minds this year.”
